Hand built tall mug with sgraffito design.
The clay is rolled out and cut into 3 sections, base handle and main section. No wheel is used. This slab process takes approximately 3 weeks from start to finish.
Once the mug is leather hard, black underglaze is added and the sgraffito design is carved into the clay. The lyrics on the opposite side are part of the Ziggy Stardust song.
Once the mug is dried and bisque fired, the underglaze is added to the lyrics and washed off, then a transparent glaze is brushed over the outside to give the mug a shine. 
The inside of the mug is a selection of coloured glazes, overlayed to run into each other.
